TV Mounting in Fargo, ND

A long Fargo winter means a lot of evenings inside, and in a lot of homes here the TV is the center of the family room or the finished basement. New homes in south Fargo, West Fargo and Horace often come with a big stone or tile fireplace wall that seems made for a screen above it, along with basement family rooms waiting for a setup. Older homes have their own challenges: plaster walls, brick chimneys, and studs that are rarely where you want them. People also hang more than one TV now, one in the living room, one in the basement and maybe one in the garage or a workshop. Whatever the room, a heavy flat panel hanging on the wall needs to be mounted right.

We start by finding exactly what's behind the wall: wood studs, metal studs, brick, block, stone or plaster on lath. We help you pick a mount that fits the TV's weight and the viewing angle you want, whether that's flat, tilting or full-motion. Then we set the mount into solid framing or masonry with the right anchors, level it carefully and hang the TV. For a clean look, we can run cables inside the wall with a proper in-wall kit, or use a paintable raceway where in-wall isn't practical. Our licensed electricians can add an outlet behind the screen when one is needed. We set up soundbars, connect your devices and clean up.

What this covers

  • Flat, tilting and full-motion mounts
  • Mounting over fireplaces and on stone or tile walls
  • Brick, block and plaster wall mounting
  • In-wall cable concealment kits
  • Outlet added behind the TV when needed
  • Soundbar and speaker mounting
  • Device hookup and basic setup
  • Shelf and media component mounting
  • Cleanup and box removal
A note from around here: New builds in south Fargo, Osgood, West Fargo and Horace often have stone or tile fireplace walls and finished basements built for a TV, while older homes in the Clara Barton and Horace Mann neighborhoods present plaster and brick that need different anchors and more care.

How a TV mounting visit usually goes

Plan the Spot

We talk through viewing height, glare from windows, where the cables need to go and what the wall is made of before anything is drilled.

Locate Framing

We find studs, check for wiring, pipes and ducts, and choose anchors suited to wood, metal, brick, stone or plaster.

Mount and Hang

We install the bracket, check it for level, hang the TV and secure it, then route the cables in the wall or in a raceway.

Connect and Test

We hook up your devices, mount any soundbar, test everything and clean up the area.

Basements are a big part of TV work in Fargo. Many homes here have finished lower levels, and walls there may be framed over concrete foundation walls, which means studs are shallow and the concrete is just behind them. We find out what's behind the finish before choosing anchors, and we avoid drilling into anything that would let moisture into the wall. In garages and workshops, where TVs are increasingly common for game days and projects, we mount on solid framing and keep the screen out of the way of car doors and the cold air that comes in when the garage door opens.

What shapes the price in Fargo

TV mounting cost depends mostly on the wall and the setup. A medium screen on a drywall wall with studs where you need them is the simplest job. Stone, brick or tile surrounds take more time and special anchors. Full-motion mounts on large TVs need precise placement into solid framing. Hiding cables in the wall, especially across fire blocking or in an exterior wall, adds time, and adding an outlet adds more. Mounting several TVs, soundbars or shelves in one visit lowers the cost of each piece because the tools and setup are already there.

Neighbors often ask

Can you mount a TV over my gas fireplace?

Usually, yes, but heat and height both matter. We check the manufacturer's clearance for the fireplace and how warm the wall gets above it, and we recommend a mantel or heat deflector if the wall gets hot. For viewing comfort, a pull-down or tilting mount can bring the screen down to eye level. Stone and tile surrounds need masonry anchors or a mount that reaches the framing behind them, and we drill carefully to avoid cracking the tile.

Can the wires be hidden inside the wall?

In most interior walls, yes. We use an in-wall kit that runs low-voltage cables and a power connection through the wall properly, rather than running a regular power cord inside it. Fire blocking, insulated exterior walls or masonry sometimes make in-wall routing impractical, and then we use a slim paintable raceway that blends in. If you want a dedicated outlet behind the TV, our licensed electricians can add one.

Can a TV be mounted on a brick or stone wall?

Yes. We drill into the mortar or solid masonry with the right bit, use sleeve or wedge anchors rated for the load, and avoid cracking older brick or decorative stone. For very old soft brick, we'll suggest spreading the load across a wider plate or anchoring into the mortar joints.

Can you mount a TV in a rental or condo without big holes?

We'll keep it as minimal as the wall allows. A TV needs secure anchoring into framing, and the holes from a mount are small and easy to patch at move-out. If your lease limits wall holes, a sturdy stand or a mount for the TV on a media console may be the better choice.
